One of Us Is Next: The Sequel to One of Us Is Lying

#1 NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER - There's a new mystery to solve at Bayview High, and there's a whole new set of rules. The highly anticipated sequel to One of Us Is Lying!

Come on, Bayview, you know you've missed this.

A ton of copycat gossip apps have popped up since Simon died, but in the year since the Bayview four were cleared of his shocking death, no one's been able to fill the gossip void quite like he could. The problem is no one has the facts.

Until now.

This time it's not an app, though--it's a game.

Truth or Dare.

Phoebe's the first target. If you choose not to play, it's a truth. And hers is dark.

Then comes Maeve and she should know better--always choose the dare.

But by the time Knox is about to be tagged, things have gotten dangerous. The dares have become deadly, and if Maeve learned anything from Bronwyn last year, it's that they can't count on the police for help. Or protection.

Simon's gone, but someone's determined to keep his legacy at Bayview High alive. And the rules have changed.

Fans of the hit thriller that started it all can watch the secrets of the Bayview Four be revealed in the One of Us is Lying TV series now streaming on NBC's Peacock!

Remembered really liking the first book in the series, but struggled to get into the sequel.

This book is a sequel to One of us is lying.
Honestly, I didn't like the sequel. I liked the first book though, cause that was my first mystery book I read. But now when I have read a couple of great mystery books, I think I over rated that book as well.

I didn't find it engaging and it didn't kept me hooked. I don't have much to say about it. The plot was just not good enough. Although the writing was good that is the reason I even gave it 2 stars.

If you're a noob in the genre, this book is great for you.

A YA mystery. It's been a while. And still it's not a genre that I love any less. This book follows the events after the one in 'One of Us is Lying'. Honestly, I don't quite remember much about the characters in there, but Simon has left a huge impression on me. I know what he did. And now there are people who want to be like him in this sequel.

I find this book's events realistic. Karen has made use of what this world has been taken over by: technology. More specifically, the phone and social media. Who are the people who are most enslaved by it? The youth. A game of Truth or Dare has started. Everyone in Bayview High has an equal chance of getting chosen. They have 24h to reply with a choice, or their darkest secret will be disclosed. Nevermind that it's a secret that you trust will never be found out by someone else. Somehow, they know. Always choose the Dare.

This story was enough to creep me out even without any deaths occuring. I was intrigued and eager to find out what will happen and fairly enjoyed it. As much as I could anyway, amidst the typical high school life of bullying. The secrets weren't that much of a surprise: what were allowed to be revealed within the span of this story were sex related. The parties involved were shamed so badly, it was torturous to read. I'm glad, however, that the main plot is able to obscure the unpleasantness of it enough for me to rate this a 4.
