The Bookshop on the Shore: A Novel (Scottish Village of Kirrenfief, 2)
Zoe is a single mother, sinking beneath the waves trying to cope by herself in London. Hari, her gorgeous little boy is perfect in every way except for the fact that he just doesn't speak, at all. When her landlord raises the rent on her flat, Zoe doesn't know where to turn. Then Hari's aunt suggests Zoe could move to Scotland to help run a bookshop. Going from the lonely city to a small village in the Highlands could be the change Zoe and Hari desperately need. Faced with an unwelcoming boss, a moody, distant bookseller named Ramsay Urquart, and a band of unruly children, Zoe wonders if she's made the right decision. But Hari has found his very first real friend, and no one could resist the beauty of the loch glinting in the summer sun. If only Ramsay would just be a little more approachable.

I love Jenny Colgan's Scottish Bookshop series and I cannot wait for what I hope will be a 3rd novel.
Both "The Bookshop on the Shore" (Book 2) and "The Book Shop on the Corner" (Book 1) have become a favorite of mine. They're just two wonderful novels about life, love, and finding yourself in the Scottish Highlands. They also leave me wishing I could revisit The Highlands and soak them all in once more.
Definitely, absolutely, would recommend these (in the words of Patrick)

This series is truly a feel good experience, yet grounded in reality. In this one, we have a struggling single mother and a deadbeat dad, a family dealing with children's expulsion from school and a parent's mental illness, and a deadbeat dad, all set in the Scottish highlands. Quirky and poignant!
4.5⭐️ but also just a 5⭐️ because I did really really like this book and all the characters. I also love the book references in this too. The romance in this book is definitely a much slower burn than the first book. Sometimes it was irritating because I wanted that romance to happen but then I also just liked getting to know all these characters and their drama. I listened to the audiobook while I also read this for some immersive reading which I liked too.
