It was a slow start for me, but it built the suspense. I kept wondering when someone was going to happen and knowing it was going to be big. Then, when it did, I dove in the next book head first.

I really enjoyed this book. The pull between characters keeps you on edge and the twists that come along really keep the story moving. I immediately dove into book 2!

I was hesitant to get the physical book because I wasn’t sure I was going to like it. I’m very glad I decided to go with audio. From other reviews I’ve read- apparently easier to listen to than read. Physical book poorly edited. The world building in the beginning is a little slow to get into. Some things said we’re hard to picture because the writing contradicts itself. And there are many prolonged chapters trying to build secondary relationships. Certain ideals of the main character are super repetitive. But if you can struggle through the beginning and last through the unnecessarily drawn out other relationships- the love banter was tolerable. I enjoyed the slow burn. I liked the concept of a morally grey female character and the plot has great potential. Just not fully executed in this first book. This book ended with a cliffhanger. So- I’m intrigued to see if the writing will continue to progress with the storyline that has potential.
