He is not only the love of her life, he's also helping her prove that she's far more than just a pampered trophy wife. Until she and Dominic start seeing the same, strangely ominous woman turning up all along the campaign trail. Until their tour starts becoming a nightmare of botched events, crucial missed information, and increasingly dangerous “accidents.” Suddenly Jo can't get any answers from Dominic—or understand why he is acting so paranoid and terrified . . .

What Jo can do is start digging into his past—one she's never really questioned beyond his perfect image and dazzling accomplishments. What results is an alarming series of events that leave her baffled: Good friends turn into enemies, truths are revealed to be lies, and all clues lead back to one secret, shattering weekend that changes Jo’s entire life. With her world splintering into pieces, can Jo risk trying to set things right? Or will hiding the bitter truth by any means necessary destroy her as well?

I read Bitter Truth with the Booked and Busy With BrynnD book club on Fable. (Can I add that I love read-alongs on this app!!) This is my 4th book by Shanora (3rd thriller) and I appreciate her range in writing across genres. A suspenseful tale of revenge to bring a corrupt governor to his knees - I’d love to see this take place 🗣️IN REAL LIFE!!! A real life Texas and DC style “How the Mighty Have Fallen” take em down thriller. I’m waiting with bated breath- someone get me an oxygen tank! This was a pretty good popcorn thriller with a little extra butter, how I like it! It was suspenseful, raised a lot of questions that I wanted the answers to, twisty, and served up an extra scoop of revenge with a smile. Dominic was pretty wicked and deserved the absolute worst. The way he called his wife “Fat Joe”, oomph. I liked the purple sky tea angle! And I loved that I wasn't a fan of the ending; I felt like it was a crash chapter of explanations for everything that happened, a fill in the blank, if you wish. I also wasn't a fan of Jolene’s "good deed" in the end, because, mind your business and leave those people where they are!!! I read and didn’t care for the audiobook at all, c/o @cloudlibrary.
