The Alchemist of Fire and Fortune was, once again, a solid, cozy mystery that did exactly what it needed to do. There are several threads running through the story at first, and they seem unconnected, but they slowly come together in a way that feels believable and nicely tied up by the end. There’s a strong sense of nostalgia running through this one. It reminded me of those childhood adventure stories with kids on treasure hunts, pirates, secret clues, and that old-fashioned, slightly magical sense of fun. It leans into that vibe without feeling silly or overdone. Dorian is… well, Dorian. Charming, dramatic, a little grandiose, and just as petulant as ever, and honestly, that’s part of the joy. His personality adds so much flair to the story. And his jealousy? Completely adorable. It’s handled with humor and warmth, and it made his character even more fun to read. Overall, this was a comforting, engaging read that delivered exactly the kind of cozy adventure I was in the mood for.
