That's Not My Name

An instant bestseller!

She thought she had her life back. She was wrong. A gripping debut thriller perfect for fans of Natalie D. Richards and Vincent Ralph.

It was a mistake to trust him.

Shivering and bruised, a teen wakes up on the side of a dirt road with no memory of how she got there--or who she is. A passing officer takes her to the police station, and not long after, a frantic man arrives. He's been searching for her for hours. He has her school ID, her birth certificate, and even family photos.

He is her father. Her name is Mary. Or so he says.

When Lola slammed the car door and stormed off into the night, Drew thought they just needed some time to cool off. Except Lola disappeared, and the sheriff, his friends, and the whole town are convinced Drew murdered his girlfriend. Forget proving his innocence, he needs to find her before it's too late. The longer Lola is missing, the fewer leads there are to follow...and the more danger they both are in.

I found this book super easy to read because the author got me hooked and kept me on edge and eager to find out what would happen next! I’m a big fan of psychological thrillers, especially when they’re easy reads. I was so excited to finally have a psychological thriller as our book club read and especially because this book was on my TBR list for a really long time. I enjoyed the themes, the suspense of not knowing if she was actually the daughter was so good. However - I did feel like the book had a very high school vibe and I think that’s largely because it was told entirely from the perspective of teenagers, with no adult point of view to balance it out. Spoiler Alert ❌ The entire time I was telling Madison/Mary, “Run, run, run!” there were just too many red flags. I also think Drew’s point of view gave away the plot twist a little too early, which lessened the impact. And poor Lola... she didn’t make it. I enjoyed how the author used the jacket with the floral prints to hide clues that Lola did not make it, however it also added to my confusion because of how Drew described her versus the way Madison (Mary) was describing herself. OMG when the poor old neighbour guy came over, I just knew that was it for him. Poor Guy and his wife. Well done Drew for going out there and rescuing Maddison, how frustrating was Autumns father OMG - just shows how flawed the system can be. Also why did the first cop not pick up that he said she was homeschooled but then she had school identification?? So frustrating. I like how the author revealed in a very subtle way that Lola had not survived and that was actually Maddison not Lola with Wayne. Overall I enjoyed this read, however I think I would have enjoyed it a lot more had it been from an adult perspective.

This book had me in literal tears at the end! Oh my gosh what an amazing book! I love when I go into a book not expecting much and ABSOLUTELY blows me off my feet! I was literally screaming during the fighting scenes because you get so invested into it through Drew’s love for Lola! The twist at the end had me mind blown as well with the girls! I finally found a site where I can give more than 5 stars on this book !

READ THIS BOOK!!!

Don't look at spoilers. Go into it blind. It's worth experiencing the plot's twists and turns.

We start with an injured girl who has lost her memory completely. A man claims to be her dad and supplies her with her birth certificate, photos, school IDs, etc. Everything to prove he is her dad. Or is he?

Meanwhile, the other POV is from her boyfriend, who is blamed for her disappearance as the last person to see her alive.
