SYLO (The SYLO Chronicles)

The ultimate action-fueled end-of-the-world conspiracy trilogy from #1 New York Times bestselling author D.J. MacHale

THEY CAME FROM THE SKY
parachuting out of military helicopters to invade Tucker Pierce’s idyllic hometown on Pemberwick Island, Maine.

They call themselves SYLO and they are a secret branch of the U.S. Navy. SYLO’s commander, Captain Granger, informs Pemberwick residents that the island has been hit by a lethal virus and must be quarantined. Now Pemberwick is cut off from the outside world.

Tucker believes there’s more to SYLO’s story. He was on the sidelines when the high school running back dropped dead with no warning. He saw the bizarre midnight explosion over the ocean, and the mysterious singing aircraft that travel like shadows through the night sky. He tasted the Ruby—and experienced the powers it gave him—for himself.

What all this means, SYLO isn’t saying. Only Tucker holds the clues that can solve this deadly mystery.

LOOK TO THE SKY
because Pemberwick is only the first stop.

I genuinely enjoyed this story!

I first heard about it through one of those things at school where the librarian goes to all the classes and recommends books for the students to read to try and get the students interested in reading. This was the only book that caught my attention and it took over a year after first hearing about it before I even picked it up. I was wandering through the library and I stumbled apon it and remembered what I heard about it.

The plot was a super interesting sci-fi/dystopian type story with an interesting premise and some pretty intense action sequences that I enjoyed thoroughly. It starts out quite slowly with a bit too much detail in the football sequences (which bored me quite a lot since they made literally no sense sinceJ don't watch football and know nothing about it) but once the action begins, it doesn't stop.

The characters were pretty okay. I like the main character Tucker and his friend Quinn but I wasn't a big fan of Kent or Olivia much. I just found them to be quite bland, but the main character made up for it since I found him to be a realistic teen with a fun personality.

The writing style did a very good job at setting up the action and building suspense. I read this quite a while ago so there isn't much I remember about it.

If you're considering picking this up, do it. If you like dystopian stories with racing action then you might wanna check it out.
