Shandril's all over the place. Teleporting here and there. Her party changes more often than an adventurer's chainmail. Knowing how this story ends makes this Prologue seem that much more inconsequential. This was probably a lot of fun role-playing at the time, but when entered as a novel, it is probably one of the most disjointed story lines out there.
