Sisters in Arms shines a light on a powerful, often-overlooked piece of history—the Black women of the 6888th battalion in WWII—with heart and determination. The friendship between Grace and Eliza drives the story, offering warmth and tension against a backdrop of racism, war, and resilience. While the pacing lags in places and some character arcs feel rushed, the story’s message and historical depth carry it through. A solid, inspiring read with plenty of heart.

Content warning for violence, war, death, racism, and related topics. I really liked the historical fiction aspects, especially how the novel focused on the intersections of identity being a woman of color in the military. I think the characters were nicely developed, but I didn't like the romance aspect. There's a YA element to the dialogue, but it didn't ruin the story for me.
