This book was such a fun mix of mystery, romance, and small-town drama. Written in three parts by three authors, Sinister could’ve easily felt disjointed—but it doesn’t. Each author takes the lead on a different couple’s story, and somehow it all flows together into a suspenseful, well-paced thriller. The Dillinger family reunion kicks off with a bang (literally—there are fires and murders), and the tension never lets up. Sabrina and Colton, Ricki and Sam, and Delilah and Hunter all get their moments to reconnect and rekindle old flames, even as danger creeps closer. I liked that each romance felt different but equally messy in that small-town, high-stakes kind of way. The standout for me was Kit—Mia’s daughter, who lives off the grid and ends up being the most unexpected and badass heroine of the entire story. Her presence grounded the chaos and brought a powerful emotional punch. Yes, at 437 pages, it’s a bit long. Some parts could have been trimmed, especially when the same information gets rehashed. But overall, the blend of mystery, romance, and revenge kept me hooked. Bonus points for the dual killers twist and the satisfying way all the threads come together in the end.
