Tideswell is a joint expeditionary base filled with military teams who train together, who play together, teams where loyalty is earned but sometimes loyalty isn't enough, sometimes greed gets in the way. Dr Gwen Abernathy was a surgeon at the military hospital and she was on a mission. Equipment was going missing from the hospital, expensive life saving equipment, her staff were complaining but Gwen was quietly documenting evidence and storing it on the cloud, evidence that she would present to NCIS base security. The hospital car park was dark, Gwen knew that she was being followed, she had everything ready, keys, pepper spray and a healthy dose of adrenaline, but this wasn't enough, her attacker had strength, knowledge and obvious military training, Gwen was battered, bruised and bleeding, it would have been much worse had it not been for the intervention of a ruggedly handsome rescuer who happened to be in the right place at the right time. It was obvious that someone wanted to prevent Gwen from relaying what she had uncovered, her life was in danger and her rescuer, Captain Thatcher Caine, was just the person to keep her safe. As the base set about uncovering the thieves, sad with the knowledge that it had to be one or more of their own, a blossoming romance was happening between Gwen and Thatcher, a relationship that neither of them had envisaged. Gwen had escaped from a high powered, wealthy, medical family where appearances were everything, even though Gwen had been cleared of the malpractice charge she had sullied their reputation, this had left Gwen with serious trust issues. Thatcher was trying to recover from the loss of his beloved wife two years ago, he had lived in the past, memories were all he had……….until Gwen, Gwen revoked feelings that he thought were dormant, could she be the one to bridge the gap. This is a lovely story that combines action, suspense and a sizzling romance in equal measures. I received a free copy of this book and my review is voluntary
