Savvy Sheldon Feels Good as Hell: A Romance Novel

"This feel-good, uplifting read is filled with positive messages about self-care and self-love. It is sure to please foodies, home-makeover buffs, and anyone looking for a light-hearted romantic read." -USA Today

A sexy romance about a plus-size sweetheart who gets a full-life makeover after a brutal breakup and falls for the incredibly hot contractor renovating her home.

Savvy Sheldon spends a lot of time tiptoeing around the cracks in her life: her high-stress and low-thanks job, her clueless boyfriend and the falling-apart kitchen she inherited from her beloved grandma--who taught her how to cook and how to love people by feeding them. But when Savvy's world starts to crash down around her, she knows it's time for some renovations.

Starting from the outside in, Savvy tackles her crumbling kitchen, her relationship with her body, her work-life balance (or lack thereof) and, last but not least, her love life. The only thing that doesn't seem to require effort is her ride-or-die squad of friends. But as any home-reno-show junkie can tell you, something always falls apart during renovations. First, Savvy passes out during hot yoga. Then it turns out that the contractor she hires is the same sexy stranger she unintentionally offended by judging based on appearances. Worst of all, Savvy can't seem to go anywhere without tripping over her ex and his latest "upgrade." Savvy begins to realize that maybe she should've started her renovations the other way around: beginning with how she sees herself before building a love that lasts.

"A heartfelt, hopeful, and humorous exploration of the importance of learning to love yourself...a joy to read." -Booklist, STARRED review

Thank you to NetGalley for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.

This was a delightful read where Savvy really grows into herself and learns to love herself for who she is and take charge of her life in a positive way. This book definitely had me smiling and enjoying the journey! I really liked seeing Savvy's relationship with her family and close friends as she navigated a bad breakup where her ex was looking for an "upgrade".

While this book definitely had a romance in it, I think it was more of a subplot as the focus of the book was Savvy learning how to love herself (and we love it see it). All in all, I can't wait to read more romance by this author!

I'm not sure if it was the eARC or what, but there did seem to be some weird glitches in my copy. The most glaring was that every word that had "fl" in it and a space between those two letters - f lour, f lag, f loral, etc. There were also some odd transitions between scenes in this book; places where Savvy would be talking to her friends and then it would be a different scene with her uncle. I would have appreciated some sort of line or page break there to make it seem like a different interaction.

Like I said, those were just minor issues in a story that I thought was well-paced and the growth was real and believable. Can't wait to read more from McCoy!

SAVVY!!!! This book was very enlightening of a woman who ages and how when your not paying attention her body changed. This happens to so many of us throughout life. Work becomes a priority, family duties and the lost of self. She didn't ever have a family yet and somewhere she stopped paying attention to "HER." Even in a relationship that she thought was long-term and then to be dumped brutally because she gained weight, was so unfair. But SAVVY, took her power back, found new love and confidence in her self. This was a story about lack of confidence, growth in ones self and love just coming without not having to be anyone other than true self. The author hit the nail on the head with this one. I think ALL women can relate to this story in some way.

This book took forever to finish because I had to force myself to read. Savvy is a fat girl who is admittedly self-conscious of her weight because of the judgement she gets from people. Yet she proceeds to judge Spencer as being homeless because of his clothes which is obvious to anyone that he works in manual labor. I have never come across any homeless person who walks their dog through residential neighborhoods. And despite her rude/disrespectful/callous tone, Spencer proceeds to be nice every time their paths cross. Also I can’t remember but I don’t think she ever apologized to him for misjudging him. The constant run-ins with the ex was beyond annoying and she could’ve just blocked his number.
