Saving Noah

We forigve murderers, not pedophiles.

Not since Lionel Shriver brought us We Need to Talk About Kevin has a writer delved into the complexities of a disturbed mother/son relationship. Until now.

Meet Noah-an A-honor roll student, award-winning swimmer, and small-town star destined for greatness. There weren't any signs that something was wrong until the day he confesses to molesting little girls during swim team practice. He's sentenced to eighteen months in a juvenile sexual rehabilitation center.

His mother, Adrianne, refuses to turn her back on him despite his horrific crimes, but her husband won't allow Noah back into their home. In a series of shocking and shattering revelations, Adrianne is forced to make the hardest decision of her life. Just how far will she go to protect her son?

Saving Noah challenges everything you think you know about teenage sexual offenders. It will keep you up at night long after you've read the last page, questioning beliefs you once thought were true.

I wish this wasn’t promoted as a thriller cause it isn’t a thriller. It’s so sad and makes you question how far you’d go for a loved one. As a mother of a boy this was a tough read… I cried a few times.

This book really has me contemplating everything I thought I believed in. The unexpected ending really will have you questioning your moral beliefs. It was a hard read, but one I couldn’t put down. I will definitely be reading more from Lucinda Berry after this one.

Saving Noah is hands down the most powerful Lucinda Berry novel I’ve read this year. It’s a devastatingly tragic and deeply emotional story, yet it’s written with such grace and beauty that you can’t help but be completely absorbed. The anguish of the mother is so raw and palpable that it stays with you long after you close the book. This novel is not for the faint of heart—it’s heartbreaking, shocking, and incredibly heavy, with a jaw-dropping twist that leaves you reeling. Some readers might find themselves crying, others may need to take a break to process the emotional weight. It’s an absolute must-read, but I strongly recommend checking the trigger warnings, as it deals with highly disturbing subject matter, including SA.

This was a book I added to my Kindle because of #bookstagram. I saw people crying, saw the trigger warnings, saw how devastating it looked to be and of course thought, yep I have to read it. But holy crap, prepare yourself. It was rough. Never thought I’d read something like this. I struggled with my own reactions to it. I cried my eyes out. It’s a very emotional read so be warned.
