I just couldn’t put it down when it comes to this play/book I will always pick it up when I finish my other books. William Shakespeare is my favorite author to read from. Nothing will ever beat his original plays❤️
I don't know if I read this an excessive number of times during my adolescence, or if this is the world's most memorable story. Probably both.
It's regular high school reading in America. That means a lot of Americans are reading it when they are about the same age as the main characters, between 13 (Juliet)-18 (Romeo). The whole text is full of rude sex jokes, which is a reward for only those students who actually pay attention to and understand the text, which is definitely not all of them.
The language is great, but the story is almost a comedy of errors more than a romance or tragedy. Romeo is pretty out of control. He's swooning over Rosalind one minute and Juliet the next, and he hardly knows Juliet. He's mopey and impetuous and this turns out to be a very bad combination. Juliet is overly suggestible.
But you can't read all their adolescent declarations of love and ever forget it. Grown women wait their whole lives waiting for someone to say things to them with even a portion of the romance of lines like, “Good night, good night! parting is such sweet sorrow; That I shall say good night till it be morrow.”
