Super quick read. One thing I can say is that the movie is better than the book so I suggest if you haven't seen the movie read the book first. This short story is found in Different Seasons. Stephen King can truly bring characters to life in his writing. There are some triggers (talking about rape, abuse etc) in the story so just beware if you are triggered easily by those things.
If you've seen the film, there will be times where this book doesn't feel like it's worth reading. The differences are slight and largely insignificant. What you'll miss if you don't give this a try, is the grit and resilience of hope.
