I really enjoyed this sequel, and I believe it was even better than the first book. I find the whole concept of The Black Farm fascinatingâand terrifyingâas well as the humanization of deities. The first book had a few small details that got under my skin a little, but they didn't detract from the brilliant world building and plot of the novel. However, I feel like there was more maturity in Return to the Black Farm, where the author had polished things off a little more and added even more depth to an already enthralling story. I think Nick's internal narrative is all too relatable for most people, and that helps the reader imagine how they would behave when presented the same challenges. Seeing characters from the first novel reemerge with even more personality was fun, and the plot twists right up until the end kept me glued to the pages once I got going. I'd definitely recommend this series to anyone with more macabre taste, or anyone who enjoys toying with the thought of alternate realities.
Are you looking for an AMAZING two book series with all the feels?! These two books, "The Black Farm" and "Return to The Black Farm" are ABSOLUTELY perfect! *WARNING* these books talk about suicide, torture, blood, gore, etc so if you don't like books like that then these books are not for you, but if you love the dark reads, these are absolutely perfect! This story is about a couple, Nick and Jess who recently lost a child and are drowning in their sorrow so they make the decision to end their lives. Nick is expecting there to be nothing after death but darkness. When he wakes up, it's a whole different reality he is faced with! He must battle through the dark things that are in the black farm!
