Hidden within Halliday’s vaults, waiting for his heir to find, lies a technological advancement that will once again change the world and make the OASIS a thousand times more wondrous—and addictive—than even Wade dreamed possible.
With it comes a new riddle, and a new quest—a last Easter egg from Halliday, hinting at a mysterious prize.
And an unexpected, impossibly powerful, and dangerous new rival awaits, one who’ll kill millions to get what he wants.
Wade’s life and the future of the OASIS are again at stake, but this time the fate of humanity also hangs in the balance.
Lovingly nostalgic and wildly original as only Ernest Cline could conceive it, Ready Player Two takes us on another imaginative, fun, action-packed adventure through his beloved virtual universe, and jolts us thrillingly into the future once again.

Readers say *Ready Player Two* offers a mix of 80s nostalgia and pop culture references that fans may enjoy, though some find these excessive or force...
I was excited to read this sequel and overall I did enjoy it, but I loved the first book and this one didn’t excite me quite as much. I liked how we get an update on the world and the Oasis since Wade won Halliday’s contest. A lot of the characters were the same and for the most part I enjoyed them the same, the exception being Wade. He bothered me so much more than he did in book one, which is hard since he was always kind of whiney to me. The story was a little repetitive to the original in my opinion and dragged a little in some spots. As much as I enjoyed getting more of Wade’s story, I don’t know if this should’ve been a duology; I think book one is a solid standalone. I was intrigued the whole time so I still recommend!
Not as fun as the first book.
This was super fun. It was going to be hard to follow up Read Play One and I think Cline did a damned good job of it. Pretty good as far as sequels go.
This book was a great addition to the ongoing story of “The High Five” and this oasis. Definitely recommend it!
You know I almost didn't read this one because of the mixed reviews but Libby gave it to me and I wanted an audiobook so I jumped in. I actually really enjoyed this one. I may even like it more than the first one. I wasn't super into the romance of the characters but the shard collecting and figuring out the quest were my favorites. I still loved the 80's nostalgia, especially with the John Hughes movies and the music. This wrapped up pretty nicely.
