I was excited to read this sequel and overall I did enjoy it, but I loved the first book and this one didn’t excite me quite as much. I liked how we get an update on the world and the Oasis since Wade won Halliday’s contest. A lot of the characters were the same and for the most part I enjoyed them the same, the exception being Wade. He bothered me so much more than he did in book one, which is hard since he was always kind of whiney to me. The story was a little repetitive to the original in my opinion and dragged a little in some spots. As much as I enjoyed getting more of Wade’s story, I don’t know if this should’ve been a duology; I think book one is a solid standalone. I was intrigued the whole time so I still recommend!

To say I was excited to see that a sequel was coming out after reading and re-reading Ready Player One because I loved it so much is an understatement!

Ready Player Two started off a bit slow and I was worried that it might not pack the punch and excitement of the first book, but by page 80 or so, it really started to pick up, and then I couldn't put it down. The story focuses on the main characters Wade, Shoto, Aech, and Art3mis where the first book leaves off. I don't want to spoil any details from the first book, so I'll leave it at that!

The new mention of a way to inhabit the OASIS is presented to Wade as he discovers an easter egg that Halliday left behind. The trouble with the group is that some think it's unethical to utilize this type of technology that starts to create a rift between a once-tight group, amongst other ideals that seem to wedge their way in between each other. As the story unfolds, it becomes a battle to save the OASIS and to fight off others who want nothing more than to steal everything they can from everyone. It was a riveting story that I look forward to re-reading once my husband finishes it.

Ready Player One is on my top 10 favorite movies of all time. I never read the book, but decided as they were never going to make the second book into a movie, I would check it out. As I started Ready Player Two, I noticed a few inconsistencies with the first movie, but that was to be expected. Lets just say, I loved the nostalgia of all the old references, was impressed with the surprise antagonist, and loved how it all came together with an ending I wasn't expecting. Thank you, Ernest Cline, for the great read, and it is with my deepest hope this book will become a movie in a somewhat distant future that I can be a part in.

Felt a bit like a video game DLC 'true' ending to the original novel rather than a continuation of the story and world. Some parts felt rushed, others felt overly padded. Still a decent story, but I felt it fell a bit far from the original
