Aarav Rai, a wealthy but troubled author, becomes obsessed with uncovering the truth after his mother’s long-missing body is discovered in her car at the edge of a forest. As Aarav digs into the past, his fractured memories, unreliable mind, and strained relationships make every revelation feel slippery and dangerous. The closer Aarav gets to the truth, the more he realizes that solving his mother’s murder may destroy everything he thought he knew about himself.
I didn't like this at all 🥴
I initially started this book in July. The synsopsis sounded promising and I loved that the author is Indian and I really really wanted to like it. I DNFed BUT the book lingered in my head and I felt inclined to pick it up again in October JUST to see if maybe—maybe— it ended up being good.
Spoiler alert: It didn't.
The writing was everywhere and there were so many unnecessary details and a lot of the book felt like fluff. While the book took place in a boujee cul de sac, there were just way too many characters that has me confused every single time someone was mentioned. The pacing was SLOW and somehow I still couldn't keep up with what was going on bc of all of the aforementioned issues. I hate that I didn't like this book. I really wanted to like it. Actually I really wanted to DNF for good but part of me needed closure, so I fought my way to the end.
I will say, the only thing I liked about this book is that the main character is obsessed with Coca-Cola and as a Coca-Cola girly myself, I could relate to him saying "I need a Coke" after any minor inconvenience.
I don't recommend this book.

Such a satisfying read! Only my second read with an unreliable narrator and I was suprised at the amount of empathy I felt for the characters. Not quite as edge of your seat as other thrillers I've read, but makes up for it with the mystery.
This whodunnit keeps you guessing. It’s a murder mystery without the gore. interesting cast of characters. The women’s roles are good ones and not merely window dressing or secondary characters.
