Quicksilver: The Fae & Alchemy Series, Book 1

From USA TODAY Bestselling Author Callie Hart comes a brand new, highly addicting enemies-to-lovers Romantasy with razor-sharp banter, heart-stopping action, and blistering hot romance that you won’t be able to put down!

Do not touch the sword.

Do
not turn the key.

Do
not open the gate.

In the land of the unforgiving desert, there isn’t much a girl wouldn’t do for a glass of water.

Twenty-four-year-old Saeris Fane is good at keeping secrets. No one knows about the strange powers she possesses, or the fact that she has been picking pockets and stealing from the Undying Queen’s reservoirs for as long as she can remember.

But a secret is like a knot.

Sooner or later, it is bound to come undone.

When Saeris comes face-to-face with Death himself, she inadvertently reopens a gateway between realms and is transported to a land of ice and snow. The Fae have always been the stuff of myth, of legend, of nightmares…but it turns out they’re real, and Saeris has landed herself right in the middle of a centuries-long conflict that might just get her killed.

The first of her kind to tread the frozen mountains of Yvelia in over a thousand years, Saeris mistakenly binds herself to Kingfisher, a handsome Fae warrior, who has secrets and nefarious agendas of his own. He will use her Alchemist’s magic to protect his people, no matter what it costs him… or her.

Death has a name.

It is Kingfisher of the Ajun Gate.

His past is murky.

His attitude stinks.

And he’s the only way Saeris is going to make it home.

Be careful of the deals you make, dear child.

The devil is in the details...

WOW. The experience I had reading this book was profound. I’m not sure why I waited so long to finally take it off my shelf, but I am so glad I did. ⚔️

This book was absolutely INCREDIBLE. The romance, world building, every single character was downright lovable (except Danya

I am so disappointed in myself for taking so long to read this. Thank gods for the pronunciation pages in the front. They made this so much easier to read. This book is so long and holds so much information, you have to pay very close attention or you'll miss something important. It was somewhat slow in the beginning. Once Saeris & Fisher's relationship came through the door, the speed picked up tremendously. The spice between them was worth the read alone. And when I thought it couldn't get any better, we find out about Carrion, Saeris gets to meet the twins & their father, and then Saeris is saved by a vampire. There is so much to take in at the end. This was an incredible book and I definitely cannot wait for the second installment.

I was irritated for most of this book. I felt like I had nothing but questions and they just kept piling up with no answers forthcoming. I loved the mix of vampires and Fae, that was a fun twist that I haven't seen before. I also liked the pairing of the main characters, expected but complimentary. Once the answers finally started happening, I was ALL IN!!!! And some of the bombshells that are dropped at the end... I NEED BOOK 2!!!

The start of th book was slow and didn't really get to know the characters well, so I was not enjoying it. the second half of the book wasu h better and I became more invested in Kingfisher and Saeris. I wish we got more insights into side characters like Ren, Layne, Lorreth and Carrion......I feel that th first half of th book would have been more enjoyable if there had been more character development and backstory
