Queen of Shadows (Throne of Glass, 4)

No masters. No limits. No regrets.

Aelin Galathynius takes her place as queen in the fourth book in this complete, #1 bestselling Throne of Glass series by Sarah J. Maas, author of the Court of Thorns and Roses (ACOTAR) series.

She will fight for her cousin, a warrior prepared to die for her. She will fight for her friend, a young man trapped in an unspeakable prison. And she will fight for her people, enslaved to a brutal king and awaiting their lost queen's triumphant return.

Everyone Aelin loves has been taken from her. Everything she holds dear is in danger. But she has the heart of a queen, and that heart beats for vengeance.

In this fourth book in the #1 bestselling Throne of Glass series, no one will escape the queen's wrath.

This series is quickly becoming my favorite fantasy series of all time. The relationships, the world building, the relatability to Aelin & her grief.. its utter perfection.

My *one* gripe is that Rowan and Aelin are distant cousins. I know it's incredibly far removed but... that didn't have to be part of the story. I don't understand why Sarah put that little tidbit in there.

Overall, I absolutely love them together, I love Lysandra's story, I felt much more connected to the witch covens in this book, and I loved when their paths all crossed!

I'm taking my time with this series because I had a severe book hangover after ACOTAR, but I'm really excited to see where it goes.

(deciding not to do the tandem read this time around).

Amazing progression of the storyline. Things start coming together, secrets are revealed, friendships and bonds are broken and reborn, and a king and queen arise from the ashes of a shattered kingdom. I can't wait to read the next book and have my heart broken, mended, and rebroken a couple more times.

I stayed up until 5 am to finish Queen of Shadows and now I get why people are obsessed with the Throne of Glass series. No notes. This book will make you fall in love with all the characters. Aelin is calculating, ruthless—and still full of heart. Watching her step into her power and outmaneuver everyone was one of my favorite parts. You can tell she’s playing the long game, and seeing it all come together is incredibly satisfying. And Manon? I didn’t expect to care about her. But her growth in this book really hit me. She starts questioning things she was raised to believe. She’s cold and terrifying, yet unexpectedly tender and you can feel the shift happening under the surface. The fight scenes are sharp, cinematic, and played so vividly in my mind. My palms were sweating as the tension escalated. If you’re wondering whether Throne of Glass is worth it—this is the book that will make you fall in love with the series. It’s where the characters grow up, the story deepens, and the emotional payoff lands. For fans of: • morally grey heroines • long-term revenge plots • slow-burn character growth • and cinematic fight scenes
