Bernard Shaw's Pygmalion is a witty, funny and thought-provoking play that follows the story of Eliza Doolittle who goes to one arrogant Prof. Higgins to be trained (more like experimented on) in speech and manner enough to be passed off as a duchess. The relationships between the characters Eliza, Higgins, and Colonel Pickering are clearly drawn with each interaction revealing deeper questions about society and human worth. A quote from the book that captures a message are these words by the Prof. "The great secret Eliza, is not having bad manners or good manners...but having the same manner for all human souls: in short, behaving as if you were in Heaven, where there are no third-class carriages, and one soul is as good as another." Pygmalion is a brilliant and interesting classic, I enjoyed reading every dialogue and I recommend it with my full chest.
