Interesting read. Enjoyed some of the side characters a bit more than the main characters but overall a solid and enjoyable read.
If you are into enemies turned fated mates, then this is a book for you. Deception, faded pasts, unclear sides... this book definitely delivered a few shocking points. Underdog trope definitely relates. Even a splash of undeserving, envious, and incompetent love interest.
I look forward to reading the 2nd book to see what else awaits....

Promised In Fire by Jasmine Walt had its moments, especially as the story progressed. I found myself warming up to the characters, and by the end, I liked them more than I expected. However, the plot felt a bit too predictable, with not much to uncover—everything seemed to be handed to the reader rather than revealed naturally.
The different perspectives were a nice touch, but I wish they were more focused on the characters’ feelings or offered small glimpses into their world instead of giving away too much. The pacing was a bit strange, feeling both slow and fast at times, which made it hard to fully engage with the story.
Overall, while this book didn’t blow me away, I have hope that the series will improve as it moves forward. It’s not a bad read, just not my favorite.
