Having just read Powerless and knowing the plot and knowing that this was from Adena's POV still did nothing to prepare me for this. I knew what was going to happen, I knew she died in the end...but damn it if this didn't destroy me anyway.
I kind of like the relationship between Adena and Mak better than Paedyn and Kai. I may change my mind as I read Reckless and continue the series... but Adena and Mak were just so cute. Their relationship had so much potential. I felt like I knew them better than Pae and Kai by the end of both books.
I hope we see more of Mak in the next two books. I need a Mak revenge arc on the side.
Gahhhhhh my heart 💔❤️🩹 I loved this book but my gosh…. I feel like my heart was ripped out of my chest and stomped on. I was sobbing like a baby by the end of it. If that’s not something you like; I definitely do not recommend reading this masterpiece. My poor, pure, sweet Adena 😭😭
I’ll tag this as a spoiler because it hints at a tragic ending.
The beginning of this book was quite boring and SO CRINGE, literally out of c.ai. but by the end of it after adena went to the palace it got so much better. I felt so sad for mak and cried lots. The best part of this book is the sad ending I'll say.

It all felt a bit rushed, probably because it was a novella, but I didn't really feel connected and cared that much for Mak's and Adena's relationship.
I'm happy she got her moment, I just wish we got more detail on some stuff that happened.
