Paladin's Faith (The Saint of Steel)

Marguerite Florian has spent her life acquiring and selling information, using whatever means necessary. When she falls afoul of a powerful former employer, her usual methods of self-preservation no longer work. Fortunately, she has collected enough favors to attempt an audacious scheme to undermine her enemies.
With the service of Shane, a paladin of a dead god and much too handsome for his own good, Marguerite will be forced to navigate a glittering and dangerous court, northern wilds, and the cult of a demon in a brazen attempt to destabilize an entire economy.
Intrigue and violence were to be expected, but is Marguerite prepared for the battle for her soul-and her heart?

thought dump :
- Marguerite yes
- Wasn't sure what to make of Shane in the previous books but now l’m on board with what his character brought to the series (the plot, the romance dynamic, the characterisation: his and paladin's kinda)
- Wren, i will protect you at all cost. (very paladinly of me i know)
- The match of personalities yes, between each character + the romance as well
- The whiplash from fun and sexy and emotional to tense and emotional to absolutely horrifying was huge, and just when i was thinking that after book 3 maybe we're getting a reprieve from the God Awful Things: hell nah we didn't
- Judith yes
- Fantasy yes
- Beartongue and Marguerite together were a highlight even tho it happens like twice
I'm noticing that T. Kingfisher always manages to throw a screamer at me when there is horror elements in their books, which I can't say i thought was possible while reading. I have a foggy movie in my head when l’m immersed in a book tho so maybe it make sense.
(If you're curious, it happened to me with only one other book, The Mask of Mirrors)
