To avoid giving away the thrill of the gruesome for those who adore that, I will write in broad themes. This book is about women under stress; how far one will go for a friend; and breaking points. There is a bit of male bashing but not too off point and there are some positive male characters also. I recommend that you look up what a traditional Japanese bathroom is like before you read the book so that you can understand certain key scenes
