This book hooked me from the first chapter and I could not put it down. I don’t think I’ve devoured a book this quickly and with such fervor in a long, long time.

The novel follows podcaster Alix Summer. On her 45th birthday a woman named Josie approaches her in a pub bathroom saying, “hi, I’m your birthday twin!” This introductory sentence will eventually become the title of Alix’s true crime podcast with herself at the center of the story.

This is my first book by Lisa Jewell but it won’t be my last. I loved her conversational writing style and it quickly wrapped me up in the story. I thought I knew where things were going from 40% on, but I continued to be shocked right to the very end.

Many thanks to Simon & Schuster, NetGalley, and Lisa Jewell for an Advanced Reader Copy of “None of This is True”. Publication date: August 8, 2023.

4.5 “None of This is True” is the first thriller I’ve devoured in a single day in a long time. The story follows two women who meet by chance in a restaurant and discover they share the same birthday. What begins as a casual friendship soon spirals into something much darker, with secrets, lies, and obsession at the heart of it all.

From the first page to the last, it kept me completely intrigued and engaged. Lisa Jewell masterfully weaves an addictive plot filled with twists that kept me guessing. The pacing was perfect, and the characters were compelling, making it impossible to put down. Jewell strikes the right balance between psychological tension and mystery, delivering a story that’s both unsettling and captivating. Definitely one of her best!

I listened to this on audible during a road trip with two other people in the car. Two millennials and a boomer loved it.
