I listened to this book - all 48 hours! This woman is such a phenom. And as I listened to her recounting her life, I realized what a huge fan I’d always been as I re-lived her achievements. The best part of this book was hearing her voice as if she was sharing with you, as a friend. She has a wonderful laugh. A self-deprecating humor. And a straight-forward style that’s refreshing. A person ahead of her time. Hearing snippets of her greatest hits was bonus! Her heart is on her sleeve on social beliefs, and may turn off those with more conservative viewpoints. Politics portion did seem a tad too long. But, so very glad she wrote her own story, because no one else could have done her justice. The mother!!

Hmmm, I really don’t even know what to type here. I adore Barbra Streisand and have been a fan of hers for a long time. Was so looking forward to this book. But I just couldn’t get through it. It started getting repetitive and although so many people told her how talented she was, she just didn’t believe it. I’m giving this one star because it just wasn’t for me. This has NOTHING to do with her talent though. I still LOVE her!

Hard to believe that at over 900 pages I would not cut a word. If you have followed her career you will enjoy the backstory from her point of view on the people she’s worked with and the decisions she has made. It’s inspiring for those of us with a desire to overcome our background and trust in ourselves.
