I can't believe this is Kate Elizabeth Russell's debut novel. It's written so well. The subject matter is so dark, and even though I wanted a different, more validating ending, I realize that not all stories like this have the endings we wish they did. The perspective of the victim who convinced herself she wasn't victimized, or wasn't victimized as badly as others, was a very compelling spin. Definitely check the trigger warnings for this one.
