A book review by someone who really should’ve learned her lesson by now.
Once again, FOMO grabbed me by the throat and whispered, “Everyone’s reading it… don’t be a baby.” So I read it. And let me just say: I should’ve thrown myself into that mysterious well.
The premise is undeniably fun in a “this could go off the rails at any moment” kind of way: girl gets dumped on a mountain (relatable), chucks a coin into a suspicious wishing well (also relatable), and suddenly every man in town wants her. Except—surprise!—they’re all supernatural. Vampires? Shifters? Probably a disgruntled swamp creature? They’re all lined up and ready to date her like it’s supernatural speed-dating night at Applebee’s.
It’s basically The Bachelor, but with claws, fangs, and a plot thinner than the tissue paper you get in those cheap little gift bags.
And then there’s Lucy. Our heroine. A woman who would absolutely fall for a guy who texts “u up?” at 3 a.m. She wanders into this magical town like, “Oh noooo, everyone here is ridiculously hot. Guess I must date all of them.”
Choices were made. Good ones? No. Entertaining ones? Also no, but at least they were fast.
To be fair, the story isn’t bad. It just reads like the fever dream you get after eating questionable leftovers while hate-watching Supernatural reruns.
If you’re looking for a spicy, silly, zero-stakes monster rom-com that screams, “I downloaded this for free on KU and that feels exactly right,” you’ll probably have a good time. Me? I finished it in one sitting, hated myself the entire time, and immediately added the rest of the series to my TBR.
Would I read the other Scared Sexy stories?
…Yes. Because I do not learn.

My Boyfriends Are All Monsters by Kimberly Lemming is a fun, spicy, and entertaining read. I really enjoyed it! The story is short but packs a punch with humor, heat, and heart. Lucy’s adventures in an enchanted town full of impossibly hot supernatural men kept me hooked, and the mix of steamy romance and playful comedy made it a perfect quick read.
The Scared Sexy novella series is perfect for Halloween! They are all equal parts spooky & spicy plus they are quick reads - I read all of them in a couple days to close out October. Overall, I enjoyed the series but to review I'll give each one a single line.
My Boyfriends are all Monsters = Odd on a lot of levels and not sure I enjoyed it.
