I'm just really not into Jazz, the golden age of Jazz or architecture so I didn't get half of the books references or points.
But they writing style was very enjoyable
The ladies could have done with more personality, especially Simone.
I could have also lived with less sex scenes and I do read spicy books so it's surprising I'd say that but these felt like a way to say "look, these characters have sex! They obviously like each other!" without actually having to show any relationship development in writing. (Although I dated a man like Peter once and let me tell you, the more I stuck to small talk and didn't actually say anything of note, the more he was convinced I was the one, so it wasn't even unrealistic to me. Just not my preference.)
So yes, this book fell flat for me, but the main cast is very likeable and I will give the next book a chance in the hopes that it will have a theme that's more within my personal interest scope.
