Momo

*The Neverending Story* is Michael Ende's best-known book, but *Momo,* published six years earlier, is the all-ages fantasy novel that first won him wide acclaim. After the sweet-talking gray men come to town, life becomes terminally efficient. Can Momo, a young orphan girl blessed with the gift of listening, vanquish the ashen-faced time thieves before joy vanishes forever?

Momo is a character that goes directly to critical thinking. In this fantasy genre novel, topics as current as time, the lack of it, the workday, the daily habits of adults, are addressed... The unique perspective through the eyes of a little girl, narrated with the affection of an author like Ende.
This was a lovely book. It’s actually written for children; early teens maybe but the message it conveys is one that applies to all ages. By writing the story as a fantasy, Michael Ende draws the reader in to a tale of little Momo , the engaging and charismatic heroine whose simplicity and honesty challenges and overcomes the evil and wickedness of the time thieves.
