Miss Pym Disposes

Miss Lucy Pym, a popular English psychologist, is guest lecturer at a physical training college. The year's term is nearly over, and Miss Pym -- inquisitive and observant -- detects a furtiveness in the behavior of one student during a final exam. She prevents the girl from cheating by destroying her crib notes. But Miss Pym's cover-up of one crime precipitates another -- a fatal "accident" that only her psychological theories can prove was really murder.

Lucy Pym has been invited to Leys, a women's college, to give a lecture on psychology. She establishes a kinship with members of the senior class right away and decides to stay on a bit longer. They're all about to graduate and there are tests, performances (it's a gymnastics college), and announcements of plum positions for some of the women. Lucy senses some tension, some rivalry and jealousy, but this is to be expected. Isn't it? When a tragic accident befalls one of the students, Lucy questions whether it was really an accident at all...
