Medusa: A beautiful and profound retelling of Medusa’s story

“A beautiful and profound retelling” (Madeline Miller) of the Greek myth of Medusa, illuminating the woman behind the legend. Exiled to a far-flung island after being abused by powerful Gods, Medusa has little company other than the snakes that adorn her head. Haunted by memories of life before everything was stolen, she's forced to make peace with her present: she’s Medusa the Monster. But when charming Perseus arrives on the island, it unleashes desire, love—and betrayal. For readers of Circe and Ariadne, Medusa is an astonishing reinvention that brings to vivid life a heroine history has set in stone.

I absolutely loved and adored this book. I related to it in so many different, difficult ways, it really hit home for me! Despite the fact that is a myth and pure fiction, the themes covered hold real emotion and value in the real world. Medusa is a clear icon who was majorly misunderstood and abused, it’s nice to finally read a story where she isn’t depicted and the villain or as a monster because she should have never been either. It’s accuracy to the real myth is amazing as well - whilst some parts have majorly changed over time Medusas origin story will always hold a place in my heart.
