Interesting to see how humans essentially have not changed over hundreds of years. The age of this book does not take away from its intellectual significance.

Meditations by Marcus Aurelius is a deeply personal and timeless work that offers profound reflections on Stoic philosophy. Written as a series of private notes, it reveals the Roman Emperor's thoughts on self-discipline, virtue, and the nature of human existence. The book explores themes such as the impermanence of life, the importance of inner peace, and the value of living according to reason and virtue. Aurelius emphasizes accepting the things we cannot control and focusing on how we respond to challenges. His writings, though rooted in his personal struggles, have universal appeal and offer practical wisdom for navigating the complexities of life. The clarity and simplicity of his thoughts make Meditations not only a philosophical classic but also a guide for anyone seeking to cultivate resilience, mindfulness, and moral integrity.

This stoic is how a family member got their name, I had to read it. This is not my favorite translation (yes I translate Latin as a part of my schooling) but I got the gist of an old man philosophizing to make sense of things as he knows he will leave soon.
