Spoiler review. Being a mostly sane person, I first interpreted this as a heroine's attempt to flee a malevolent and thoughtless future, but I was bothered by the discrepancy of the parents' insistence she board the train. Then duh, I remembered that the author was not known for her commitment to life and realized the train itself represented life. I'm not terribly interested in art celebrating suicide, but three stars for the unexpected perspective.
A strange and mysterious and probably allegorical tale, interesting really only because it's Sylvia Plath.
