It is official... I am definitely hooked on Lauren's books!
After being asked to join the tour - I read book one first, just to familiarize myself with the characters and Laruen's writing. Even though this can be read as a standalone, I recommend reading the first book, Only for You, before heading into Made for You. Lauren does an amazing job with character development, but I personally loved knowing a little bit about these characters, since they were introduced in Only for You. Overall though, I don't think I would have enjoyed this less by ANY means.
Lauren's book are filled with such entertaining - layered characters, delicious sexual tension and the ANGST! She is also not afraid to take the gloves off. There were times when I thought that these two really did despise each other, because some of the things they said were just awful.
For some reason, Will regresses back to middle-school mentality and is so immature when it comes to Brynn. He's always had this feeling of rejection since their first encounter in high-school. Actually going as far as befriending Sophie (Brynn's sister) to get to her. Brynn however, is so wrapped up in her own shit that she can see what is right in front of her, and that was beyond frustrating. In all honestly, Brynn was extremely difficult to like and relate to. She comes off as an uptight, snobby B - and for me, it was hard for her to redeem herself. Granted, she is this way for a reason - suffering in her early youth with her weight and looks. While I applaud her for changing her life, she is so focused on her plans, note books and perfect life that she can't see beyond that.
Although I had a few issues with the characters individually, I loved their banter and relationship development. These two could not be more different - but they just work. Will brought Brynn out of her shell, introduced her to spontaneous and that living life outside a note-book is WORTH IT, that is doesn't have to be neat and pretty and perfect.
I also really enjoyed the flash back scenes that we get into their past. They were great to get a better understanding of how their relationship has gotten to this point - even though we only get a few.
Overall - Although I didn't enjoy this one as much as the first book, I did adore it! I loved watching Bryann's walls come down and finally admit her feelings for Will. And the ending was so sweet and perfect!
