Lucky Caller

With the warmth, wit, intimate friendships, and heart-melting romance she brings to all her books, Emma Mills crafts a story about believing in yourself, owning your mistakes, and trusting in human connection in Lucky Caller.

When Nina decides to take a radio broadcasting class her senior year, she expects it to be a walk in the park. Instead, it’s a complete disaster.

The members of Nina's haphazardly formed radio team have approximately nothing in common. And to maximize the awkwardness her group includes Jamie, a childhood friend she'd hoped to basically avoid for the rest of her life.

The show is a mess, internet rumors threaten to bring the wrath of two fandoms down on their heads, and to top it all off Nina's family is on the brink of some major upheaval.

Everything feels like it's spiraling out of control—but maybe control is overrated?

I may have rated this better had the audiobook's narrator been better, but she was GOD AWFUL. She punctuated every sentence with a question mark and it drove me completely insane.
The novel itself was okay, but I wouldn't recommend it

I enjoyed reading Lucky Caller by Emma Mills because it shows the importance of friendship, family, and working together as a team. For example, Nina and her team encounter many obstacles and challenges while hosting a high school radio show. However, as a team, they work together to solve any issues they come across, all while maintaining a good friendship. In addition, I liked how the author showed Nina’s struggles within her family and how it strengthened their relationship, as they solve issues together. However, there were parts in the novel that include random flashbacks, which I found very confusing and unnecessary in developing the story. Overall, Lucky Caller by Emma Mills is a great book if you are looking for a novel to pass time.
