Lore of the Wilds: A Novel (The Lore of the Wilds Duology, 1)

A stunning Romantasy debut about an enchanted library, two handsome Fae, and one human who brings them all together.

A library with a deadly enchantment.

A Fae lord who wants in.

A human woman willing to risk it all for a taste of power.

In a land ruled by ruthless Fae, twenty-one-year-old Lore Alemeyu’s village is trapped in a forested prison. Lore knows that any escape attempt is futile—her scars are a testament to her past failures. But when her village is threatened, Lore makes a desperate deal with a Fae lord. She will leave her home to catalog/organize an enchanted library that hasn’t been touched in a thousand years. No Fae may enter the library, but there is a chance a human might be able to breach the cursed doors.

She convinces him that she will risk her life for wealth, but really she’s after the one thing the Fae covet above all: magic of her own.

As Lore navigates the hostile world outside, she’s forced to rely on two Fae males to survive. Two very different, very dangerous, very attractive Fae males. When undeniable chemistry ignites, she’s not just in danger of losing her life, but her heart to the very creatures she can never trust.

I’m so sad to announce I dnf’ed at about 60%.. I had such high hopes for this book and maybe that’s what ruined it for me. But the blurb and the cover had me so excited! However the pacing was inconsistent, the tropes were nothing new and I didn’t have any urgency to pick the book back up every time I put it down. I think this is a good beginner NA fantasy, but if you’ve read a few in this category already this is basically the same book over again. Maybe I’ll try again once book 2 comes out

3.75-4 ⭐️ I enjoyed the writing but I wish Analeigh would’ve went into more detail about the beef between the humans and the fae. Also, I wish we would’ve seen more of the library, lighten it up and let Lore experience more of its magic and what’s inside. It just makes me wonder if the library was supposed to be magical or just the book? After reading this a second time, I just went through the story questioning everything that Asher did and said because I knew he couldn’t be trusted. I want more of Gryph, Grey and Isla, and I want Finn to stop being such an ass in Lore of the Tides if he really wants to prove his affection for Lore. I need some more growth in his part. I’m also interested to see what Syrelle has up his sleeve in the next book.

Okay so it took me a while to finish this HOWEVER i was shocked with the ending. Plot twist I did not see coming. It took an even darker turn in the last 35-45 pages.

Definitely worth the read ! I will 100% be continuing this series.

THE ENDING GOT ME OUT OF MY READING SLUMP

This felt like a basic YA fantasy with spice, almost in a disney-movie-like format. Even the villain spilling their evil plan before attempting to capture/destroy them towards the end. I was pretty bored with how the entire book felt more like "run away from the fae" instead of diving deeper into explaining the magical book and the magical powers. Every time I tried to figure out where the plot was going, the focus of the story would shift to something else. Also, why does EVERYTHING and EVERYONE have to smell like something?? It became pretty annoying when descriptions of anything started off with what it smelled like.

Enjoyed this one overall. The first half was kind of too slow for me, but towards the end it picked up. Didn’t realize this was adult fantasy and based on the cover assumed it was more YA. There was definitely open door spice scenes and wasn’t a fan of that.
