Lola in the Mirror

I know the phrase gets bandied around a lot but I thought this was a “tour de force” a magnificent story, beautifully written and full of Brisbaneness. I dared hope for a happy ending but never dreamed it would happen in reality. Such resilience and lack of self-pity from all of the characters mirror the author’s personal qualities and the book shines with humanity.

A very Australian written novel. Loved the Australian language and could identify the locations mentioned . The story itself was sad but still had to turn each page to see what happened , wanting to know the whole story .

First Trent Dalton and it won’t be my last. Really well done and bonus points for being set in Brisbane. 9/10
