BEAUTIFULLY written, much better than the movie (the movie would have been good if I hadn't read the book). I really enjoyed reading from the perspectives of several different, well-developed characters.

This was a fascinating read, which I really enjoyed. it was very imaginably written and I found myself inexorably drawn to some the characters , not all of whom were in human form. I particularly enjoyed some of the descriptions, especially their ethereal quality, and particularly when landscapes and events were written about. Despite its title, the book concluded on a dark note. Not quite what I had expected, but I suppose this was part of the fascination of the story, making it a novel that kept me turning the pages.
