Loved the story, but the language of that period just goes on and on. If I had been reading and not listening, I might have given up.

A beautiful story that talks against a society reigned by patriarchy and power. Jan Eyre is the perfect example of book that tries to talk against the society of its time, I think, books that want to give messages to humanity, need to study this book. This book is the example of how not to force a change in society, but to try to make it with small steps, knowing that time will change them.

I love Jane Eyre - the book and the woman in the book. She is so practical and courageous -such perfect integrity. And who couldn't love Mr. Rochester and the description of how much he adores his "Janet." Funny, the old pithy English style of writing infuriates some people and I love the richness of it - like velvet or some rich tapestry - I just love the OVER language of it all. I spent a bit of time trying to find images of Thornfield and Moorehouse (sp?) online - a sure sign I was absorbed by the book. Like most great books, I was sad when it was concluded but happy that my heroine had her hero at last. Tomorrow night I will probably rent the movie so I can see if the movie matches the pictures in my mind! However NOBODY ever wants to rent these kind of movies with me!!!!
