I’m genuinely buzzing from this unexpected gem! I typically don’t dive into dark academia or fantasy, but this book completely blew me away! Kidan, our fierce and determined FMC, embarks on a gritty quest to rescue her sister, who she believes was abducted by the enigmatic MMC, Susenyos—an alluring vampire with centuries of secrets. I totally get Kidan’s desperation to save her family, but wow, her impulsiveness often had me on the edge of my seat! She dives head-first into situations, ignoring the consequences at bay. And then there's Susenyos—oh, that glorious enigma! I mean, come on! He’s been alive for centuries, yet can’t drop some ancient lingo and just talk to us normal folks? But honestly, it just makes him all the more intriguing. The tension between them was electric, and I found myself rooting for him, despite his cryptic nature! I have to admit, the writing was a bit dense when delving into the magic of the Dranaics and Dranacti. But just when I thought I was lost, the narrative opened up with stunning revelations and profound moments that left me breathless. Switching to the audiobook about 40% in was a game-changer! I can’t believe the words I mispronounced—thankfully, the audio brought the richness of the story to life! As the plot thickened, I couldn’t help but anticipate the inevitable twist where enemies become allies. And let me tell you, when Susenyos’ desires were revealed, my heart melted! He’s definitely not the cold-blooded creature he pretends to be. But with Kidan’s reckless nature, I can’t help but worry she might become his downfall! I'm practically itching for the release of book 2! I need to see how this thrilling tale unfolds and what breathtaking twists are coming our way!

Susenyos is officially one of my book boos. Fight me.
Anyways, I took way too long to read this because I had assigned readings to complete but when I read it, I was IN IT. Taj and Susenyos and G.K.

I enjoyed the more violent, less sparkly vampires of Immortal Dark

This was a perfect October read for me. Murder mystery with folklore and vampires, beautifully writen. I started of slow, the world building and backstory was painstacking and confusing at times. I enjoyed the morally black FMC even though she was frustrating at times she owned her decisions and continued on and was not lead blindly by a MMC. The MMC is equally morally black making them a pair to behold at times. The schemes and plans are not elaborated but it you must pay attention. Book 2 I am sure will be equally as violent.
