Hunted: A Survival Horror Thriller in a Haunted Forest

You can't hide from what's waiting in Ashlough Forest.

Five days after Eileen vanishes into the vast, shadowed wilds of Ashlough, her camera is found washed downriver--its final, haunting images raising more questions than answers. Determined to uncover the truth, Chris and four close friends form a desperate search party and plunge into the heart of the forest, where every tree seems to whisper warnings, and every path feels like a trap.

Hunted is a relentless survival horror novel, masterfully blending psychological suspense with the terror of nature itself. The forest is more than a backdrop--it's a living, breathing menace that turns every moment into a test of courage and endurance. As the group is pushed to their limits, the line between natural and supernatural blurs, and the fear of what hunts them becomes almost unbearable.

Perfect for fans of survival horror, psychological thrillers, and stories where the wilderness itself becomes the enemy, Hunted is a chilling journey into the unknown.

Enter Ashlough Forest--if you dare.

- started off pretty slow featyring a rather unlikable character, but picked up nicely about 1/4 of the way through
- highly engaging mystery that felt almost like a TV show, as each chapter ended on a cliffhanger before moving on to another subplot
- twist at the end was unexpected
- some parts were genuinely horrifying, given the premise!

The ending was a huge twist! It was nice to read something from Darcy Coates where the antagonist was a real human being and not a spiritual entity. I also appreciated that this one is longer than some of her other reads so it allowed for multiple storylines.
