Claire Kingsley is the author of the romantic holiday novel, How the Grump Saved Christmas. It is about a woman named, Isabelle Cook, who wants to make sure her familyâs Christmas-themed farm and village, Tilikumâs Christmas Village, doesnât get sold to developers. Her ex-boyfriend, Elias Stoneheart, is the buyer: a grumpy businessman, who has absolutely no interest in Christmas if it means getting in the way of his career aspirations.
Through time spent in the adorable small town, Elias works hard to convince Isabelle to sell to him, and little by little catches onto the holiday spirit...and her. The plot of the book is based around Elias doing crazy things like putting toys in the closet to the point that he understands the true meaning of Christmas compared to simply manipulating their feelings that it is because of commercialism.
Kingsley paints a vision of a fictional farm town to grab hold of each season. Isabelle and Elias have a love and a hate relationship, as they see the farm differently. They give comic relief and are some of the best put-together arguments and chemistry.
How the Grump Saved Christmas is a great festive read, with lots of festive spirit, small-town charm, humor, romance, and a reminder to care about each other during the festive season. If you love Hallmark stories, then you will definitely love this book.
