Hmmm wanted to keep read and not put down but didn’t really get anywhere. Didn’t like any of the characters at all. Not sure how to rate this one.
Wow, definitely a lot to digest and pick a part here. It was a well written book, but I didn’t feel connected to any of the characters and honestly didn’t like any of the either. At first it was a very slow burn and then towards the end a complete wildfire.
We read this book in March 2001. Don’t know why it shows up as read in 2022. No way to edit date. We all hated it.
Good writing, but what a horrible joyless book. Do I need to be hit over the head to be empathetic? No. As someone that is already fairly empathetic, reading this was stressful and awful for every minute of reading, and like having your insides ripped out in the least enlightening way possible. I can't believe I even finished it, and I definitely shouldn't have. Life is too short to read this.
