Hercule Poirot's Christmas (Hercule Poirot Mystery)

In this exclusive authorized edition from the Queen of Mystery, the holidays are anything but merry when a family reunion is marred by murder—and the notoriously fastidious investigator is quickly on the case.
Christmas Eve, and the Lee family’s reunion is shattered by a deafening crash of furniture and a high-pitched wailing scream. Upstairs, the tyrannical Simeon Lee lies dead in a pool of blood, his throat slashed.
When Hercule Poirot offers to assist, he finds an atmosphere not of mourning but of mutual suspicion. It seems everyone had their own reason to hate the old man. . . .

As always-indubitable! And masterfully read by Hugh Fraser. Poirot is asked to consult in a case of murder at a manor house during the Christmas holiday. A cantankerous old man has summoned his adult children to his side and then ends up dead. Through some well placed questions and those famous little grey cells, Poirot solves the crime.
christie and christmas, what's not to like?
LJ Ross' thoughts:
‘While most of us will probably recognise the television adaptation of this novel which often shows at Christmastime, featuring David Suchet in the titular role, if you’re like me and prefer to discover the original story as words on a page, then I heartily recommend you settle in with this book and a hot toddy near to hand. It has a bit of everything: an unlikeable, vengeful millionaire who dies badly; a black sheep of the family; snowy scenes and country houses…what’s not to love? Beyond this, the story afforded Christie, or rather, Poirot, an opportunity to flex his intellectual muscle and marry his observations about human nature and psychology with the facts. It’s a thoroughly enjoyable read, perfect for the season!’
