WOW! So as I've begun reading the Harry Potter series for the first time, I've decided that I would read the book and then watch the movie to compare the two. So far the first 2 in the series were pretty spot on, but when I watched the movie adaptation of Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban I can now see why so many die hard fans were upset! I like that Harry is learning more about his family and who he is although the story is starting to become a bit darker and starts the tone for the next few books. I love how J. K. Rowling has so much imagination and continues to push the boundaries of "muggles" and what they think is real throughout each of her books. I love the dynamic between Harry, Hermione, and Ron and was sad to see that there was a point in the book that they weren't speaking. (One of the numerous things that did not happen in the movie). I think my favorite parts of the book were the last few chapters when it's revealed to Harry how Hermione has been able to take on so many classes with the time turner and then the subsequent adventure Harry and Hermione begin to save Buckbeak and ultimately themselves. I actually teared up at the end (yes, I do that quite often...such a softie) when Sirius sends an owl to Harry and gives him permission to attend the Hogsmeade excursions. Such a wonderful book! I look forward to now reading Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire. On to the next one!
