This book is my least favorite book in the whole series, mostly because no one actually seems to be doing anything logically except for Hermione. Everyone else is just running around letting their emotions get the best of them (read: Harry and Sirius) and yelling at people when it would be better to take a more sneaky and calm approach and I just spent the whole book being furious and exasperated at Harry for most of it.

Then again, I suppose that is a sign of good writing that gets me so worked up about the characters!

Also it dragged a little bit in the beginning - I think everything that happened before going back to Hogwarts took almost 200 pages. Things started moving along a little better once they were back at Hogwarts, but that was when I started really being irritated at Harry all the time. He just was so moody and was a jerk to his friends and tbh if I were his friend, I wouldn't be by the time the book was over. And he just acts in an emotional, illogical manner and he can't just take his anger and put it away when it was necessary and tbh I don't like Snape as a person, but I couldn't help but agree with him when he said that Harry's tendency to just act on his emotions and anger made him weak and easily manipulated.

So overall the book/writing was good, but emotionally, I still can't stand most everyone in this one.

Ah my god!! This is definitely my favourite Harry Potter book I’ve listened to so far!! It was definitely a very long book and there are some things I feel possibly didn’t need to be added but I throughly enjoyed! It’s one of the books that have HUGE differences between the book and movie and I found it fascinating noticing how it differs. I think I definitely prefer the book to the movie and I found myself immersed in the audio book, it was magical and it gave me that childhood nostalgic feeling that I felt when first discovering the wizarding world. It was a sad and devastating end and I think the conversation between Harry and Nick at the end is something I really wished happened on screen, i don’t feel we saw grief stricken Harry as in depth in the movies and for that I’m disappointed about. I have to give credit to Stephen Fry who did an amazing job narrating and made the book come alive for me!!🪄🧙
