Hallowe'en Party: Inspiration for the 20th Century Studios Major Motion Picture A Haunting in Venice (Hercule Poirot Mysteries, 35)

The perfect spooky season Christie. A Halloween party, a small village, and a murder that starts with a child claiming she saw one. So classic Poirot and I loved the setup. It has that cozy but creepy fall vibe I always want in October. The village gossip, the apple bobbing and the pumpkins on the surface, and something much darker underneath. Poirot is brilliant as always, and the way Christie layers the clues is just so fun to follow along with. No spoilers, but it’s not my absolute favorite Poirot just because the middle gets a little chatty with the interviews. The payoff is great though, and it totally delivers that vintage whodunit satisfaction. If you love seasonal cozies, locked-village mysteries, and a little Halloween charm with your murder, this one is such a good time.

I read this book for the first time many years ago and decided to re-read it as part of a Halloween reading challenge. I have to admit, I love Agatha Christie and am a huge Poirot fan, but was a little disappointed in this one. It was one of her later works and just didn't have the same feel as the earlier Poirot books, which I still enjoy immensely.

So I was thrown because I recognized Rowena Drake from A Haunting on Venice, and the Halloween party… I think the overlap/inspiration veering into two totally different stories threw me, but barring that I enjoyed this book. An intriguing conclusion.

My first agatha christie book. I read it during my travels expecting nothing much actually. But to my own suprise I became immersed it this book. I often found myself scribbling the names of the suspects and forming a mind map of my own. It was just soo fun!! I think I have an affinity towards crime. I would really love to read the entire Hercule poirot series in the next 2 years. Lovely book, amazing author.. what else do we need other than a nice cup of tea, a comfy seat and Agatha Christe

Easy read and fast paced, took you out from reading slump!
