I was honestly expecting a much different storyline based on the synopsis (more sex, less rom-com) and was pleasantly surprised that this book surpassed my expectations. For my fellow Colleen Hoover and Jamie McGuire fans, Good Girl was very similar in style and genre, which again, I wasn't really expecting but liked! (think Ugly Love or the Beautiful Series)
Overall, I really, really enjoyed this book. I read the whole thing in one sitting and it was honestly laugh-out-loud funny. As I mentioned, I really loved the storyline (it's not every day you read a book about a virginity auction). And Jana Aston did a great job of writing an equally funny, cute and sexy story. I'm so excited for the next book about Lydia's best friend and roommate Payton! She was easily my favorite part of the book. I was looking forward to more scenes with her towards the ending but a whole book is even better!
One major problem I had with the book towards the middle/end was the dialogue between the two main characters, Lydia and Rhys. At the beginning, I really loved Lydia's character--with her Goodwill and Del Taco obsession and her quirkiness, I thought she was extremely relatable. However, as the book went on, specifically in her interactions with Rhys, she became more naive and the dialogue become almost childish. It wasn't terrible but it almost seemed like the author was over exaggerating their age difference (Lydia is 22 and Rhys is 34) with Lydia's constant questions and rants that didn't seem like they would come from a twenty-two-year-old and use of the phrase "the sex". It was a little off-putting for me but the storyline kept me intrigued enough that I mostly ignored it.
Overall, I would give Good Girl 4-stars.
